He Shoots, He Misses

The McCain campaign is in full throttle this week releasing multiple videos attacking Senator Obama. The most recent video was emailed to supporters today:

The purported purpose of this video according to the McCain campaign:

To buck up any McCain backers who may have been dispirited watching Obama dominate the news with his overseas trip and rally.

The McCain camp is denying that the recent ads where a change on his promise to run a different campaign. This promise has not materialized, no surprise to a liberal like myself. The only problem I have is that Senator Obama is not firing back, however according to an Obama campaign statement:

you’re being juvenile, and all you’re doing is helping us raise money.

If these ads are helping the Obama campaign raise money, then please keep them coming Senator McCain. The Democrats in America have already seen through these adverts and will come out in greater numbers in the general election. Senator Obama is no Senator Kerry, so the typical Republican lines of attack are just going to continue to miss therefore like Senator Obama said yesterday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa:

Is That The Best You Can Come Up With?

The Next Choices

Sometimes the discourse on this blog often takes some drastic turns and that is because I often read and listen to two different books at the same time. I  frequently take the bus into Dublin during my weekly schedule because driving into the city is suicide given that there are 100,000 cars on a highway built for 30,000. The bus is faster taking on average with a travel time of 45 - 60 min to get into the city. This does leave me with a lot of time hence I got into the practice of copying some audiobooks onto an SD card and then playing them on my Nokia e61 during the journey.

That whole paragraph probably doesn’t explain a lot but I figure it would be pertinent to mention to the people that read this blog where some of my influences might come from during a given month. On the paperback front, since I was very young, I have always read before I went to bed. At 25, it has become such a habit where I don’t feel I can sleep without reading a few pages of some book.

I hope that makes sense but onto the books…a few days ago I started reading What’s The Matter With America by Thomas Frank. I am on page 76, and will have the book review up by the middle of August (I hope):

The above picture is actually the European version of the cover, browsing around your local Borders or Barnes&Noble, you might want to look for What’s The Matter with Kansas. On the audio front, I finally managed to get a hold of Stephen Colbert’s: I Am America ( And So Can You!)

Audiobooks take a little bit longer to finish because I try not to spend too much time on the bus, but I would imagine a review will probably appear by the end of August. These may seem like an odd mix but I go through books pretty quickly and welcome any suggestions for the next two.
